G Loomis IMX Pro Spey Rod with Tom Larimer

We joined Tom Larimer at IFTD last year to discuss what's coming to the fly fishing realms this season. He was excited to introduce the G. Loomis Pro Spey Rod. Watch the video below to get an inside look at this unique spey rod.

Hi, guys. Tom Larimer from G. Loomis here. I'm in the IFTD booth at Orlando, and we're introducing our new series IMX Pro Short speys. Spey fishing has grown a lot, it's changed a lot over the years. Trout fishing now with these things has become really big, so we wanted a series that sort of covered everything from trout all the way up to steelhead and large trout applications, and we want it to be really focused on sort of the new era of spey lines--so shorter heads, things like OPSTs, things like Air Flo, Skagit Scouts, Air Flo Ranges...

Those short format head lines really shine on these rods, so the whole series is 11-foot 11-inches, three through seven weight, and the important thing to realize is this isn't a switch rod. Even though it's an 11 footer, it's a true spey action, so it has a little stiffer tip, a little bit more moderate mid. Helps you change direction with it, but it's not a real fast rod. You don't have to feel like you're right in here when you're casting like a lot of switch rods, so very enjoyable to fish.

Check these out if you're interested in fishing for trout, steelhead, even smallmouth, stuff like that. Really fun series. For more information, you can go to North 40 website. Thanks for checking us out today.
