Gear Review: New Simms Gloves for 2018/2019

Simms has 13 new gloves for 2018/2019.  Here are a few of our top picks to help keep your paws warm and working this winter and spring.

Simms Warming Hut Glove

This glove is serious and is the new glove I am most excited about.  The Simms Warming Hut Glove features Primaloft insulation which is more than capable of warming your hands on the coldest days.  There is also a warming pocket to add hand warmers in case your hands are nearly frostbitten after toughing it out on the river.  These are my go-to gloves for operating a jet boat during steelhead season.  Their water-resistant shell does a good enough job at keeping your hands dry and warm on those snowy, blustery days.  These gloves have a thin fleece lining for comfort and are a size larger than normal to allow maximum mobility.  The built-in wrist leashes make them easy to find and secure no matter how fast you are ripping up the river.

Simms Outdry Insulated Glove

If you ever wanted a crossover ski/board glove and a fishing glove, the Simms Outdry Insulated Glove is your ticket to river/mountain domination.  This glove features Primaloft insulation surrounded by an Outdry shell that keeps your hands warm and dry on the soggiest days.  The glove also features a pre-curved fit for maximum comfort and dexterity, as well as a tech finger so you can snap a pic of the giant you just landed or the line you are about to drop.  The only thing this glove is missing is an insulated cuff to keep snow and rain out.  So, your wrists might get a little bit frozen.

Simms Kispiox Glove

This 100% waterproof neoprene glove is Simms answer to Patagonia’s R1 Fishing Glove.  The Simms Kispiox Glove is a fully sealed neoprene glove that has a fleece lining for comfort.  It features a tech finger to work your phone and a pre-curved fit for increased mobility.  This glove is ready for the rainiest of days and is a perfect rowers glove.

Simms Headwaters No Finger Glove

At first glance the Simms Headwaters No Finger Glove may seem a little silly to you.  It looks like it is designed after a duck/goose calling glove.  However, these gloves are great for keeping the chill off the back of your hand and knuckles.  The missing palm allows for the increased feel of anything you are holding.  These are the perfect pair of gloves to keep the chill off in mild conditions.

Simms Wool Half-Finger Glove

When it comes to fishing gloves, wool is pretty tough to beat.  Simms has streamlined a fingerless wool glove and made it better.  The Simms Wool Half-Finger Glove is softer to the touch when compared to normal, cheap wool gloves.  These gloves also feature a hexagonal grip pattern on the palm.  The gloves also feature a Simms logo, so everyone knows you went for the expensive wool gloves rather than the $3.99 pair.

Simms Headwaters Foldover Mitt

Made with the same material as the fingerless Headwaters Glove, the Simms Headwaters Foldover Mitt features a fold over mitten portion to cover your fingers completely when not fishing.  Then when you are ready to fish, simply fold the mitten part back and you are left with a versatile fingerless fishing glove.  These gloves are made with a high stretch fleece to decrease hand fatigue and increase movement.  Get them wet when you land a fish, ring them out, and stay warm.
