Great Falls Fly Tying Nights
As fly anglers, we’d generally prefer to be fly fishing, but when winter rolls around, we shift into fly tying and fly fishing social mode. This tying season, North 40 Fly Shop Great Falls is hosting five fly tying nights in the banquet room @ The Do. If you’ve attended any of the Missouri River Fly Fishers events recently, you know the place. We have chosen the venue for several reasons. Firstly, the folks at The Do have always been gracious hosts. Secondly, the Banquet Hall offers ample space for fly tying and has multiple screens to show fly fishing films during our tying nights. Thirdly, inside The Do, you can pick up a pizza and soft drinks at Godfather’s or choose from plenty of great beers and a full bar.
Watch
Spectators are welcome, and we appreciate the support! We will have fly fishing videos rolling on the projection screen and Monday night football on the TVs in November and December. You are welcome to kick back and relax.
Socialize
Hang out with a bunch of fly fishing and fly tying fools. Make new friends!
Learn
Instruction is available for new tiers. All ages are encouraged to join.
Want to create something unique? Learn how to tie flies without using traditional materials.
Participate
We will have a number of vises, tools and some materials on hand for anyone to utilize. If you’ve never tied a fly and you’d like to give it a try, this a great chance to see if you’ve got the fly tying gene. Fly tying is not hard, and we are happy to help you get started with basic instruction.

Collaborate
It is fun to tie flies with other fly tiers and learn new patterns and insights. If you are a regular tier and would like to bring your own materials and tools, there is plenty of space to spread out. You can also grab a couple friends and just do your thing.
Win Prizes
Each month, we'll have a fun fly tying challenge for a special prize. Can you tie a fly with gloves on? How about blindfolded? If you are willing to try, you just might win. Fly tiers will also receive a ticket for a nightly prize drawing.
General Details
We will be ready to roll by 5:30 p.m. and hanging out until at least 8:00 p.m. at The Do Bar Banquet Hall, 1800 3rd Street NW in Great Falls. Dates are November 12, December 10, January 14, February 11 and March 11. Pizza, soft drinks, and full bar services are available for purchase. Join us!
