Phil Rowley Fly Fishing Seminar: Stillwater Success

omakflyshop_42017_img2Finally, we’re beginning to see the signs of spring, color beginning to show on trees and all the ice has retreated off (most) lakes. It looks like a perfect time to knock the dust off the rods and put a good stretch in lines coiled since last fall.

Spring can be one of the best and worst times of year to catch fish. Beauty can abound one moment and the fishing can be phenomenal, but, like the flick of a switch, the clouds can come in or the fish can be gone.

This can be one of the most aggravating things when you know the fish are there, but you can’t find any willing participants. This is when you need a systematic approach to finding and catching fish.

Want to catch more fish on stillwater? Then read this.

Phil Rowley is one of the foremost anglers when it comes to devising ways to catch fish in still waters. He approaches everyday with an upbeat attitude and methodically goes about finding and catching some of the largest trout the epic lakes of British Columbia and Alberta produce.

Whether the take of the day is chucking streamers tight against the shore and pulling out monsters, or diving chironomids to the front door of daylight bottom dwellers, Phil knows how to crack the code and bring fish to the net.

He and his business partner Brian Chan are often noted for their revolutionary contribution to the world of chironomid fishing, but that is just one of the many tricks Phil has hidden up his sleeve.

Check out the gear we have online to get you ready to hit stillwater this season.

As a line designer, and pro staff member of Sage and Rio, Phil is just as much a gear head and knows the tools to make life easier on the water.

We are pleased to host Phil for a 2-day seminar with both classroom and on the water learning opportunities where he will discuss in detail and clarity ways and techniques to become a better still water angler.

We will begin each day with a classroom session to help build and contribute to the knowledge base of situational fishing, the flies and the gear; then we will adjourn to a local private lake where we can put these new skills to use.

Not only will you have the chance to learn from one of the greats in the world of fly fishing, but you could also have an opportunity to catch some world class fish.

We hope to see you there--here's the itinerary.
